In July of 2016, Dr. Harvey left St. Louis and moved back to the Chicagoland area in order to acquire and continue Dr. Joseph Canzona’s highly respected north shore Oral Surgery practice in Evanston, Illinois as Dr. Canzona retired. Read Dr. Canzona’s Transition Letter.
Dr. Harvey practiced in Evanston for four years. He has since transitioned the practice to Winnetka. This office has the newest technology and the same great staff to best serve his patients.
Dr. Harvey maintains a full scope Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice ranging from standard oral surgical procedures to very complex surgeries. He currently maintains hospital privileges at NorthShore University Health System at Evanston Hospital and performs most of his hospital surgeries at that location. Therefore, patients are welcome for dentoalveolar surgeries (tooth extractions, biopsies, management of impacted teeth, etc.), outpatient anesthesia, TMJ disorders including total joint replacement of the TMJ, orthognathic surgeries, facial trauma, pathology and reconstruction, dental implant surgeries including “all-on-4 procedures”, and complex bone grafting. He is happy to be back in Chicago and enjoys spending time with his wife and his four lovely daughters.
Dr. Harvey was among other top faculty doctors to speak at the Oral Cancer Symposium at the University of Chicago in October 2019. Constantly educating himself and the future of oral surgery is what makes Dr. Harvey one of the best oral surgeons in Chicago.
Dr. Alan Harvey sponsored a special Grands Rounds Presentation to educate others on maxillofacial prosthodontics and related surgeries for head and neck defects. Dr. Jason Rich and Dr. Azadeh Afshari, both former colleagues of Dr. Harvey’s from Washington University in St. Louis, were the selected speakers sharing their expertise to educate others in the field of oncology and facial reconstruction. Dr. Harvey’s advanced knowledge and practice in reconstruction makes him a top choice for many patients in the Chicagoland area!
Dr. Harvey was a participating surgeon in Fresh Start Caring For Kids Foundation’s eighteenth Surgery Weekend, during which he provided surgeries to patients in long-awaited need. His efforts resulted in changing the lives of numerous deserving people who now have a “fresh start” in life!
